Amarinder Singh, Congress lawmaker from Amritsar, was recently appointed Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president, replacing Partap Singh Bajwa.
Amritsar:
Noted lawyer HS Phoolka today took out a cycle rally from Tarn Taran to Amritsar, demanding an apology from newly-appointed state Congress chief Amarinder Singh for giving clean chit to 1984 anti-Sikh riots accused Jagdish Tytler.
Mr Phoolka, who recently quit all posts he held in Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to concentrate on the 1984 anti-Sikh riots cases, said Mr Singh had several times issued statements claiming that his party colleague Tytler was never involved in anti-Sikh riots though the matter was pending in court.
Mr Phoolka said he travelled 30 kms by road, along with his followers, to seek apology from Singh for issuing "wrong statements to please his political bosses".
The rally culminated in the evening at a town hall near Golden Temple. Mr Phoolka later went to Jalianwalla Bagh to pay his respect to martyrs and paid his obeisance at Darbar Sahib Golden Temple.
