Haridwar:
Hundreds of activists today took part in a mass campaign across four states to clean numerous 'ghats' of the Ganges, a spiritual group in Haridwar said.
The mass cleaning took place at 200 points between Uttarkashi in Uttarakhand and Patna Sahib in Bihar, and also covered Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand.
A spokesman for Gayatri Pariwar, which organised the event, told IANS that the emphasis was both on cleaning the 'ghats' and spreading awareness on keeping the holy river clean.
The most intense part of the campaign took place at Rishikesh and Haridwar as well as Allahabad and Varanasi.
