Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh: A 25-year-old woman was allegedly attacked with acid by her husband and in-laws for dowry in Kotwali area, police said today.
According to the complaint lodged by the woman Ms Farzana, her father-in-law Iqbal, husband Akram along with his brother Laeeq Ahmad and sister Kesar Jahan threw acid at her during a meeting with her family members last evening.
The victim was living with her parents. She was forced to leave her in-laws' house as since marriage they were demanding a car and cash, Inspector Yashpal Singh Yadav said, citing the complaint.
Ms Farzana got married to Akram around one-and-a-half-year back.
A case has been lodged against Akram and his family members and the victim was sent for medical examination, police said.
