Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the BJP National Council meet in New Delhi on Saturday

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday indirectly attacked Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi for his comments on communal clashes in Uttar Pradesh which he said were "artificially engineered".
In an interview to a newspaper, Mr Gandhi had said that the communal clashes in UP were part of a deliberate strategy to "divide the poor and pit brother against brother."
"People who despite defeat do vote-bank politics, they are trying to destroy social fabric," Mr Modi said at the BJP's National Council meeting, without naming Mr Gandhi. Mr Modi also said that the BJP's massive victory in national election held in May has led to a change in global perspective of India. "People have given their verdict, it is our turn now. We will adequately fulfill the aspirations of people," he said. (Highlights of PM Modi's Address)
Praising Mr Shah, the Prime Minister said, "BJP would not have won Uttar Pradesh without Amit Shah in the team. Rajnath Singh was the Captain and Amit Shah Man of the Match in polls."
Mr Shah is credited with scripting BJP's stunning victory in UP in Lok Sabha elections that helped BJP get an absolute majority of its own. Under his leadership, the BJP got 71 of the 80 Lok Sabha seats, it's best ever performance in the state.
Earlier, addressing the meeting, Mr Shah called upon all workers and leaders to ensure that the party wins the upcoming assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, Jharkhand and Maharashtra.
"We now have to establish fresh milestones of victory in the forthcoming assembly elections on the strength of our remarkable success. Assembly elections are due in Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, Jharkhand and Maharashtra. We have to accept the challenge of forming our government in all these states," said Mr Shah.

Apart from Mr Modi, the meeting was attended by former BJP president Rajnath Singh, veteran leader LK Advani and senior leader Arun Jaitley.
