Bareilly: Actor-turned-politician Sanjay Dutt has said that he was tortured by the police when he was held under TADA.
"TADA is such a harsh law that the police mercilessly beat accused booked under it to extract the truth. Even I was beaten up," said Sanjay while campaigning for the Samajwadi Party in Bareilly.
He also said that if given a chance, he would beat a cop under the law to make him confess he was behind the 9/11 attack.
"Given a chance even I would beat up a cop under this law and make him say that he is the man behind the attack on the twin towers," he added.
Sanjay Dutt was recently appointed as the general secretary of the Samajwadi Party. He was slated to contest on the party ticket from the Lucknow Lok Sabha constituency, but the Supreme Court barred him from contesting on grounds of his conviction.
