Jaisalmer: The Indian Air Force's accidental bombing of a village in Rajasthan has sparked off a major row.
A Mirage 2000 aircraft accidentally dropped the bomb about a 100 kilometers from Jaisalmer, almost on the Indira Gandhi Canal - the water lifeline of this desert zone. The crucial canal provides water to half-a-dozen districts in west Rajasthan. The Air Force has initiated an inquiry into the bizarre incident.
This is the third time in the past year that an Air Force plane has missed its target in this area. Both previous incidents happened in February, in villages of Jaisalmer's Mohangarh block.
