New Delhi: Delhi Law Minister Somnath Bharthi's attempt to conduct a surprise raid on an alleged drug and prostitution ring on Wednesday night ended in an unseemly row between the minister and the police. Aam Aadmi Party's Manish Sisodia today addressed a presser on the incident.

Here are the highlights:

  • If the people are unhappy, the government will not keep quiet
  • We are being accused of vigilantism, but we are a different government
  • We will not offer excuses that Delhi Police is not under us
  •  If the police don't fall in line, we'll fix the police.
  • We have a complaint against the Malviya Nagar SHO which shows he entered houses of poor people, beat women without a warrant... And you need a warrant to break up a drug racket that is going on?
  • We want action against the policemen who are guilty of dereliction of duty
  • First, a Danish woman was raped, then, the police refused to act when we told them about the drug and sex racket and in the case of the woman who was set on fire by her in-laws
  • We want the concerned cops, the SHOs and ACP to be suspended pending an enquiry
  • The LG has ordered a high level inquiry
  • Whether the police come under us or not, we will demand action
  •  We will not stay quiet. We will swing into action if something wrong is going on.
  • We invited the media to show what was going on
  • We are going to meet the Home Minister, maybe he'll hear our plea
  • Request media not to turn into spokespersons for the Delhi Police
  • We deny the claim that the Nigerian woman was beaten up by AAP workers. No such thing happened.
