IIT-JEE results: Andhra Pradesh shines

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh has surpassed every other state in grabbing seats on the merit list in the IIT-JEE exam. And this is great news for a coaching academy in Hyderabad because one out of every four in the top 100 on the merit list is from this institute.

These all-India toppers claim that all work and no play didn't make them dull boys at all.

"At least 10 hours of study everyday was needed for getting a good rank in IIT. It gives you many more opportunities in future, not just in IIT. You can do wonders if you do two years of hard work," said Uday, who secured second rank on the IIT-JEE merit list.

All these boys worked very hard but do their parents feel they missed out on play?

"Definitely, I do feel he has missed out. Somehow he has managed to achieve something after losing so much of his childhood. I have the satisfaction that at least his sacrifice has not gone waste," Uday's father K J Shah said.

Usually, it is about the tremendous pressure exerted on thousands of students by coaching institutes, parents, teachers and the system. But today it is simply about the celebration of achievement that's the result of years of hard work. (Read: IIT JEE 2010 results declared, topper from Madras zone)
