Kanpur: A first year student of Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, has committed suicide on the campus.
Prashant Kumar, a 19-year-old student of Electric Engineering, hanged himself in his room on Friday evening. He was apparently stressed over his exams beginning from Monday.
Prashant had joined IIT in July last year and was living in the hostel. His family also lives in Kanpur.
The police are investigating the reason behind the suicide. IIT-Kanpur director Sanjay Govindhandae has said that a committee will be formed to investigate the incident.
