New Delhi: The IIMs and IITs have joined hands to reject the latest proposals of the Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry on pay scales.
The faculties of IITs and IIMs will draft a joint charter of demands to be handed to Union HRD Minister Kapil Sibal that includes demands like better hikes and more autonomy.
IIM faculty council met on Sunday and gave the HRD Ministry one month to meet its demands.
It also decided to take up the issue with other IIMs and IITs. While the IIT professors will meet in Kolkata on Monday, IIM professors will also meet this week.
Earlier, the HRD Ministry sent a letter to IIM Ahmedabad, scrapping many of its demands, including Rs 15,000 scholastic fees and special status for its professors.
