New Delhi:
Congress General Secretary and known BJP-baiter Digvijaya Singh said that he had collected far more damning information against BJP president Nitin Gadkari than has been exposed today by Arvind Kejriwal and will go to court with it if required.
"I have always said Mr Gadkari is more interested in doing business, than politics. It is only because of his proximity with the RSS chief that he has come to this position. If you examine his assets, you will find his assets increased as soon as he became a minister in the state cabinet of Maharashtra," Mr Singh told NDTV.
"I'm disappointed with the charges that Kejriwal has made because they were already in the public domain. There's nothing new," he added.
He refused to reveal any details but said that he was "collecting evidence" against the BJP president.
Mr Singh though did talk about Mr Gadkari's relationship with Ajay Sancheti, a businessman who is linked to the coal block allocation scam, valued by the national auditor at Rs 1.76 lakh crore and the Rs 70,000 Maharashtra irrigation scam. Mr Sancheti was also given a Rajya Sabha ticket by Mr Gadkari against the wishes of the party.
When asked why he hasn't yet made the information public, Mr Singh said that he will do it in court, when "the honourable judge calls me".
He is facing Mr Gadkari's defamation suit in court for publicly alleging that the BJP president's links with Mr Sancheti. The case is being heard in a Delhi trial court.
