Lucknow:
Four days after a woman and her teen daughter were gang-raped near a highway in Uttar Pradesh, a school teacher was kidnapped and allegedly raped at gunpoint in Bareilly by three men who also filmed the assault.
One of the men has been arrested. Two others allegedly involved are yet to be traced.
The woman told the police that she was on her way to school on Tuesday when a car stopped and three men dragged her inside. They raped her in the moving car and dumped her in a field near the highway.
They threatened to post the cellphone video of the assault online if she reported the matter, the woman told the police.
A local police officer, Rajesh Singh, has been suspended. A team went with the woman last evening and gathered evidence from the spot where she was assaulted.
BSP chief Mayawatii said after the last incident, it was thought that the government will take steps and these incidents will stop. "But instead, such incidents have increased. Now if they say this is all a political conspiracy then it is shameful," she added.
A hunt is still on for at least five men who waylaid a family from Noida on the highway near Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, on Friday. They had tied up the men and dragged away the 35-year-old woman and her 14-year-old daughter, and gang-raped them for three hours.
Facing all round condemnation on lawlessness in the state, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav ordered the police to round up all the accused within 24 hours, but only three arrests were made before that deadline.
The man whose wife and daughter were raped, told the media that the family would commit suicide if the attackers are not punished within three months.
