In BSF Plane Crash In Delhi, Tragedy Calls On A Dehradun Home

Dehradun: As news of Tuesday's aircraft crash in Delhi came in, a pall of gloom descended over Deputy Commandant (DC) Bhagwati Prasad's home in Dehradun.

DC Prasad was among ten people killed when a small plane of the Border Security Force (BSF) crashed on the outskirts of Delhi just after take-off.

Throughout the day, his older brother and wife have received a steady stream of well-wishers to pay tribute to the pilot.

With moist eyes, the entire family grieves the loss of a loving younger brother, a dear uncle and a great pilot who was also a helpful human being.

DC Prasad moved to Dehradun from his village after his passing his school and worked hard towards accomplishing his goal of becoming a pilot, his sister-in-law Manju recalls.

For her, DC Prasad was always someone who put the need of other's before his and she believes perhaps that is what went through his mind when he steered the plane away from a populated colony this morning to minimise casualties.

For his young nephew Archit, there are no words of comfort. This young boy dreamt of becoming a pilot just like his uncle and found constant encouragement and guidance in him.

While the family was looking forward to DC Prasad coming to Dehradun with his wife and two children, including a two-month-old son for their vacation, a terrible turn of events quickly snatched away those plans.
