Panihati (West Bengal):
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has issued a slogan for the forthcoming general election: no third UPA government. At a rally at Panihati near Kolkata on Saturday, she exhorted regional parties to come together and give the country a stable government.
"I want
parivartan in Delhi. Here's my slogan: No third UPA. Let's get a government. All the regional parties are required. Let many come together and give us a stable government," Ms Banerjee said.
This was her second rally in three day where she attacked the CPM for the Saradha chit fund scam. But she did not spare the UPA either, saying the CPM, the Congress and the Central government were conspiring against her.
Ms Banerjee claimed accounts of Trinamool Congress were scrutinised by the Income Tax authorities but not of other political parties.
She also said that the Centre wanted to deprive the state economically, adding that conspiracies began after the Trinamool Congress quit the UPA government.
Alleging that Congress was trying to divide regional parties, the West Bengal Chief Minister said, "Those spelling disaster for the country are toying with the idea of dividing regional parties. People of the country are saying there were UPA-I and UPA-II but there will be no UPA-III."
She said no amount of browbeating would be able to cow her down. "The more you browbeat me, the more I will be vocal. No use threatening me with the CBI," she said.
