Celebrations flagging off for 75th Independence Day, Rs 45 crore will be allotted to install national flag at 500 places, Mr Sisodia said. Rs 10 crore for programmes on freedom fighter Bhagat Singh's life and Rs 26 crore for families of freedom fighters were also part of the announcements today.
"By 2047, every person sitting in Delhi will be earning as much as every person in Singapore.... this is our aim. We aim to make Delhi educated and self-reliant by 2047," Mr Sisodia said today.
''Deshbhakti'' is defining feature of this year's budget, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said. "A vision has been provided in the budget that 2048 Olympic games should be held in Delhi. The national capital will bid for 2048 Olympics. We will take up whatever infrastructure and other necessities that are needed to be created for it," he added.
The AAP government, which has earned admiration in the past for its education reforms, has allocated Rs 16,377 crore for the education sector this year. In a first, virtual model schools will be set up in the city, Mr Sisodia said today in his 1.5 hour-long speech. "Sitting in any corner of the world, you can take advantage of Delhi's education facilities. This will be world's first school not confined by four walls," he explained.
As part of Rs 50 crore-scheme "Aam Aadmi Nishulk COVID Vaccine Yojana", free vaccines will be given at government's hospitals. "There are many who everyday have to think if they should spend money to get ration or vaccine. In the 75th year of Independence, this question should not arise. So, we have decided that vaccines at government hospitals will continue to be given for free to people," the Deputy Chief Minister said today.
Special women-only clinics or "Mahila Mohalla Clinics" will be set up in Delhi from next year to ensure health access for every woman.
Rs 1,293 crore has been set aside for expansion of healthcare services, including opening new hospitals, renovating old ones and augmenting beds.
The total outlay of the budget is 6.1 per cent or Rs 4000 crore more than the 2020-21 budget.
Delhi will reform the curriculum to make sure every student becomes a patriot, Mr Sisodia said today. "We need to bring revolution through education. We will prepare students for NDA. We will set up Sainik schools," Mr Sisodia said.
Rs 25 crore has been allocated to promote Yoga in the city; yoga trainers will made available across the city.
