Gandhinagar:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in Gujarat's capital Gandhinagar today to address BJP workers at the party's state headquarters. But before heading to the party HQ, the PM made a quick detour to meet his 95-year-old mother Heeraben.
As his helicopter landed in Gandhinagar around 2 pm, PM Modi drove straight to his younger brother Pankaj Modi's house, where his mother Heeraben stays. He spent nearly 20 minutes there, before leaving for the party headquarters which is close by.
"Before arriving for the party meeting at the BJP headquarters in Koba, which is around 7 kilometres from Raisan, the Prime Minister decided to meet his mother and take her blessings," said a BJP leader.
"Modi ji spent around 20 minutes with his mother after arriving at Gandhinagar. He then came to the party headquarters for the meeting," the leader said.
Just last month, the PM's mother Heeraben, also known as Hiraba, was seen at a bank in Gandhinagar to exchange banned currency notes.
On November 15, Heeraben had arrived in a wheelchair at a private bank near her home, waited her turn and was assisted by relatives as she walked in to swap Rs 4,500 in denominations of Rs 500.
She later posed with a brand new Rs 2,000 note handed to her.

Before he reached Gandhinagar today, the PM addressed a rally in Deesa in the state, where he hit out at the opposition for repeated disruptions in parliament by the opposition over notes ban.
