The incident took place over a festering personal dispute that blew up last night.
Danapur (Bihar):
An army soldier shot dead another at Danapur in Bihar over a festering personal dispute that blew up last night.
Rinkesh Prasad Singh, a clerk in the Bihar Regimental Centre, allegedly shot jawan Santosh Singh at his home in the Danapur Cantonment. Rinkesh Singh then killed himself.
Rinkesh Singh had been Santosh Singh's instructor in the past and the two were very close.
Santosh Singh, a Lance Naik posted in Arunachal Pradesh, returned to Danapur four days ago and was staying in a rented house in the Judges Colony, around a kilometer from the cantonment.
Reports suggest Rinkesh Singh wanted Santosh Singh to marry one of his cousins and the two fought over it yesterday. Santosh, who rejected the marriage, was shot dead by Rinkesh, who then tried to commit suicide, and then finally, shot himself.
