New Delhi: Rahul Gandhi, the most famous resident of Tughlaq Lane in Delhi, has some serious competition. Sachin Tendulkar's arriving in the hood, most likely.
Sources in the government confirm that the sports icon is likely to be allotted a house opposite Mr Gandhi's, who resides at 12, Tughlaq Lane. Mr Tendulkar, who was sworn in as a member of parliament on Monday, will bring his famous self to No 5.
Mr Tendulkar was nominated to the Rajya Sabha along with actor Rekha and industrialist-activist Anu Aga. All MPs who are nominated by the President are entitled to Type VII bungalows. These are usually given to Ministers of State or junior ministers. Type VIII homes are the fanciest, and are reserved for cabinet ministers.
Mr Tendulkar's VVIP status also merits high security, said government sources, adding that Tughlaq Lane is well-guarded on account of Mr Gandhi and Law Minister Veerappa Moily, who lives there too.
