A teacher in Mangalore is seen thrashing an injured boy in mobile phone footage
Mangalore:
A young boy with a fractured arm is hit repeatedly by a teacher in Mangalore in a video that has gone viral on social media.
The 5-minute video shows the boy, his right arm in a cast, suffering hard blows from his teacher Somasundara Shastri at a Veda Pathshala or school.
The eight-year-old was apparently beaten for skipping a day. He told the teacher that he had broken his arm and had to get it bandaged, but in response, got a heavy beating.
In between the blows, the teacher is seen holding the thin boy by both ears and giving him a thorough rattle.
The teacher also keeps asking the boy whether he is a 'Brahmin' or a 'Kshatriya.'
A complaint was lodged yesterday over the incident, which reportedly took place earlier this year in May. The mobile footage has been widely shared over the past two days.
