Independence Day 2024 Highlights: India is celebrating its 78th Independence Day today.

Independence Day Updates: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today hoisted the national flag for the 11th time in a row from the ramparts of the Red Fort on Independence Day.

In his address on the country's 78th Independence Day, PM Modi said it is a day to pay tribute to the countless people who made sacrifices and struggled for the country's freedom.

"The country is indebted to them," PM said.

The theme of this year's Independence Day is "Viksit Bharat@ 2047", underscoring the government's goal of making India a developed country by 2047, which would mark 100 years of Independence. The focus is on government policy and programme announcements that generate headlines.

Multi-layer security is in place across Delhi with the cops implementing  advanced CCTV analytics around the Red Fort.

On the eve of Independence Day, several rallies were taken out across the country under the Centre's 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign.

US Embassy Wishes India On Independence Day In 22 Indian Languages

As India celebrated its 78th Independence Day on Thursday, the US Embassy in India uniquely extended its greetings with several envoys wishing India in all 22 scheduled Indian languages.

The languages the US envoys wished India were Hindi, Sanskrit, Sindhi, Punjabi, Kashmiri, Dogri, Gujarati, Marathi, Konkani, Maithili, Assamese, Meitei, Bodo, Nepali, Santhali, Kannada, Bengali, Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Odia, and Urdu.

"Did you know the Indian Constitution defines 22 scheduled languages? All of us at the Embassy New Delhi and the consulates in Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Mumbai couldn't decide which language to use to express our excitement about Indian Independence Day, so we just used them all! From every corner of the United States to every corner of India...Happy Independence Day!" the US Embassy stated in a post on X

  • Fear needs to be in the mind of such demons who attack, assault and violate women - they should know that the death penalty (phansi) is what they will face for their crime.
