Heavy security deployment and arrangements have been made ahead of August 15.

New Delhi: Security agencies yesterday conducted a multi-agency counter-terror mock drill at a Delhi Metro station here in order to beef up security response and preparedness for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations.

Officials said the drill was carried out under the overall supervision of CISF at the Ghitorni station with the involvement of Delhi Police commandos, fire department, traffic police, officials of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and bomb disposal squads.

They said the drill was enacted to test a scenario where three terrorists storm the said station and take passengers as hostages.

"The multiple aims of the drill were achieved and it was decided to keep an effective coordination, like today, between all the agencies in combating any terrorist-like incident," they said.

About 150 personnel were involved in the drill.
