Mumbai: For the first time, Ajmal Aamir Qasab's identity was confirmed in court by an independent eyewitness.
A 58-year-old Taj employee told the court that on the night of 26/1, he was walking towards the hotel when he spotted 10 men in a dinghy here at Badhwar Park.
He told the court that eight of them removed their jackets and helped each other wear backpacks. I asked them: "Where have you come from?" One of them gave me an angry stare said, "We are students."
Thirty minutes later, the eyewitness was working with others in the hotel basement when they heard gunshots and grenade blasts.
They hid all night 'perspiring in fear'. At 4 in the morning he managed to escape the terrorists the second time on the same night.
On Wednesday, he told the court that it was Qasab who that night had identified the terrorists as students. It's a testimony that corroborates the police case in which till now only police witnesses had identified Qasab.
