Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh today said India and Bangladesh are able to resolve issues amicably as their age-old strong relations are based on mutual understanding and confidence.
The minister appreciated implementation of the land boundary agreement between the two countries.
His comment came after Bangladesh Army chief General Abu Belal Muhammad Shafiul Huq called on him in New Delhi.
He said the issue of fishermen drifting unknowingly into each other's territorial waters was discussed in the meeting and it was agreed that the return of such people to their respective countries should be expedited.
Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju, Secretary (Border Management) Anoop Kumar Srivastava, officers of the home ministry and Bangladesh High Commission were also present in the meeting.
