Jerusalem: President Pranab Mukherjee today said India was "disturbed" by the continuing violence in the region rocked by Israel-Palestinian clashes and that it condemned all forms of terrorism.
He also said India has always "sought a peaceful resolution of disputes".
Mr Mukherjee, the first Indian President to visit the Jewish state, made a reference to the recent violence which has led to hundreds of casualties on both sides, made these remarks at a ceremonial welcome accorded to him at the official residence of his Israeli counterpart Reuven Rivlin.
"We are disturbed at the recent violence. India condemns all forms of terrorism. We have always sought a peaceful resolution of disputes," he said in his remarks.
Mr Mukherjee was subjected to criticism by the Israeli media for not speaking against Palestinian "terrorism" in his speeches in Palestine from where he came yesterday on a three-day state visit. PTI
