New Delhi:

India today added 39,361 fresh coronavirus cases, which is marginally lower than yesterday's count. The country also reported 416 deaths over a 24-hour period; it had reported 535 deaths a day ago.

The test positivity rate - number of positive cases identified per hundred - stands at 3.41 per cent, above 3 per cent after 34 days. Kerala with 17,466 cases in a day leads the states in most number of infections in a day.

COVID-19: Haryana records 3 deaths, 31 new cases
Haryana on Monday reported three coronavirus-related deaths, taking the cumulative count to 9,622, while 31 fresh cases pushed the state's infection count to 7,69,770, according to a bulletin.

The new fatalities were reported from Kurukshetra, Panchkula and Gurugram districts, the health department's daily bulletin said.

Gurugram recorded nine of the fresh COVID-19 cases while seven new infections were registered in Kurukshetra.

COVID-19: All eligible people in Madhya Pradesh's Amarkantak get 1st dose of vaccine
All people eligible for taking COVID-19 vaccine in Madhya Pradesh''s Amarkantak town have received their first jab, following which Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan congratulated the residents for achieving the target of "100 per cent vaccination".

Amarkantak is the place of origin of the holy river Narmada in Anuppur district of the state.

Small shops, streetside restaurants and some shopping malls reopened in coronavirus-battered Indonesia on Monday after the government loosened a shutdown despite warnings it could unleash another Covid-19 wave.

President Joko Widodo said Sunday that a partial lockdown imposed in early July would continue until August 2 even as the highly infectious Delta variant tears across the vast archipelago nation, which has overtaken India and Brazil to become the global pandemic epicentre.

But restrictions on many small businesses, including traditional markets and ubiquitous open-air eateries known as warungs, were loosened even in the worst-hit areas.

France Reports 40 Million Vaccinated With At Least One Covid Vaccine Dose
The number of people in France who have received at least one jab against Covid-19 has crossed the 40-million mark, President Emmanuel Macron said on Monday.

After four million people received vaccines over the past two weeks, some 60 percent of the population are now partly or fully vaccinated, Macron tweeted during an official visit in French Polynesia.

"All together, we will beat the virus. We will carry on," he said.

Puducherry Reports 86 Fresh COVID-19 Cases, Overall Tally Rises
The union territory of Puducherry registered 86 new coronavirus cases during the last 24 hours raising the overall tally to 1,20,417, a senior official of the Health Department said on Monday.

The 86 new cases were identified at the end of the examination of 4,766 samples, Director of the Department S Mohan Kumar said.

The new cases were spread over Puducherry (61), Karaikal (16), Mahe (8) and Yanam (one), he added.

One more person, a 59-year old man, succumbed to the virus here during the last 24 hours ending 10 AM Monday raising the count to 1,790.

Arunachal Pradesh Records 164 New COVID-19 Cases, 3 More Fatalities
Arunachal Pradesh witnessed a sharp dip in daily COVID-19 cases as 164 more people tested positive for the infection on Monday, down from 515 the day before, pushing the tally in the state to 45,867, a senior health official said.

The death count rose to 216 with three more persons succumbing to the infection, he said.

China Reports 76 Virus Cases, Highest Daily Rise Since January
China on Monday reported 76 new coronavirus cases, the highest daily rise since January, including 40 domestic transmissions prompting authorities to test millions in eastern Jiangsu province, reported news agency AFP.

Beijing has a zero-risk approach to the virus, which emerged in the central Chinese city of Wuhan in late 2019. It locks down cities and mass tests whenever small clusters appear.

Tens of thousands of people are under lockdown in Jiangsu's provincial capital Nanjing as authorities test the city's 9.2 million residents after an outbreak linked to its airport last week.

50 Passengers Per Coach In Delhi Metro, No Room For Standing
While the Delhi Metro has been allowed to run at full capacity, the DMRC says only 50 passengers per coach will be allowed with no room for standing passengers. DTC and cluster buses will run on 100 per cent seating capacity. Cinemas, theaters and multiplexes will be able to open in Delhi from today but at 50 per cent capacity. The gathering limit at wedding ceremonies and funerals has also been increased from 50 to 100.

Coronavirus News: Goa Extends Curfew Till August 2
Goa on Sunday extended the statewide curfew to prevent the spread of COVID-19 till 7 am on August 2, reported news agency ANI.

"The State Level Curfew Order will be extended up to 7 am, 2nd August 2021," Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said in a tweet.

The curfew in Goa was first imposed on May 9 in view of the rising COVID-19 cases. It has been extended multiple times since then. However, since then, the government has given various relaxations to people and businesses in the state.
