Pathankot:
There appears to be convergence between India and Pakistan on investigations into the Pathankot airbase attack, top sources told NDTV after the two sides ended a 10-hour meeting in New Delhi on Thursday.
Indian investigations reveal that Pakistan based Maulana Masood Azhar and his terror organisation Jaish-e-Mohammed (JEM) was responsible for the attack. The investigators from Pakistani on Thursday
examined 13 Indian witnesses including four from the Punjab Police at the NIA Headquarters.
A five member Special Investigative Team or SIT from Pakistan is in India to collect evidence and share its investigation with the National Investigative Agency. Pakistani investigators are expected to leave India tomorrow. "Evidence like post mortem reports, DNA samples of the terrorists, details of weapons and ammunition with Pakistani markings have been shared with the Pakistani investigators," a senior officer told NDTV.
Refusing to divulge details of investigation in Pakistan, a senior officer said "India has provided all the evidence Pakistan sought."
Earlier, India had sent a letter-rogatory - a formal legal request from a court - to Pakistan. India has sought access to JeM members likes Maulana Masood Azhar, his brother Mohammed Rauf and other key members of the group. "We have asked the Pakistani team for their voice samples," a senior officer said. India is also expected to ask Pakistan to allow Indian investigators to visit the country soon.
