Islamabad:
India today took up the issue of a "major ceasefire violation" by Pakistan on the Line of Control in Akhnoor sector of Jammu and Kashmir in which a women was killed and two Border Security Force or BSF soldiers were injured in the firing.
The Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan, TCA Raghavan spoke to the Pakistan foreign secretary over the phone and expressed the country's disappointment on the matter.
"We are disappointed at the developments which have taken place this morning. I spoke to the Pakistan foreign secretary this morning and again in the afternoon," he said in conversation with reporters in Islamabad.
He indicated that a formal protest would be lodged with Pakistan over today's incident after getting all the facts.
PM Modi recently held bilateral talks with Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Ufa, Russia where he also accepted an invitation to attend SAARC summit in Islamabad next year.
