Pittsburgh:
The Prime Minister issued a clear and strong message on Saturday to Pakistan - terror cannot be an instrument of state policy.
Ahead of Indo-Pakistan Foreign Ministers' meeting in New York, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh pointed out the big obstacle in normalizing relations with Pakistan.
Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh says, "Well, India's message is India seeks to normalise its relation with Pakistan, the only obstacle is that Pakistan should give up its old attitude regarding the use of terror as an instrument of state policy."
He also reiterated India's demand that Pakistan take action against those involved in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, saying that if Islamabad took proper action India would move the extra mile to normalise relations.
The Prime Minister adds, "The conspiracy has been hatched by Pakistan and that has been admitted by the Pakistani Government. We sincerely hope they carry forward the investigation and bring to book perpetrators of the Mumbai attacks."
Earlier, on Saturday at UN General Assembly, Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari said that Pakistan wants peaceful relations with India, and urged resolution of the Kashmir issue, saying it is the key to peace in the region.
Just 24 hours away from the India Pakistan foreign ministers meeting in New York, India's stand has been cast in stone by none other than the Prime minister himself. With Pakistan showing no signs of taking any action against Hafiz Saeed, the mastermind of the Mumbai attacks, the Prime Minister's strong words have made it clear that expectations from this meeting, are abysmally low.
