Washington: Global peace and prosperity can be the outcome of the Indo-US partnership, and co-operation between India and the US will be the defining partnership in the 21st century, Indian Ambassador to the US Arun K Singh has said.
"Global peace and prosperity can be the outcome of US and India partnership... We shouldn't ask what India and the US can do for each other, we should ask what India and the US can do for the world," he said during a public lecture at University of Michigan campus yesterday.
Discussing the impact of Indian-Americans on the US economy, Mr Singh said that one in seven patients in the US is seen by an Indian doctor, 40 per cent of hotel rooms are owned by Indians and 15 per cent of startups are initiatives of Indian Americans.
According to him, education, innovation and technology will be the key for India's growth and will bring new opportunities that will benefit both communities.
India and the US bring different strengths in innovation to their co-operation, he said.
Mr Singh also participated in a roundtable discussion with a group of faculty and student members to discuss some of the ongoing partnerships and research projects involving University of Michigan and India.
