New Delhi: The Indian Army responded to Pakistani shelling on Saturday, destroying bunkers just metres away from the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir, a video footage shows. At least three Pakistani bunkers have been destroyed.
NDTV cannot independently verify the authenticity of the footage filmed by a local media team. The army has not yet commented on the video.
With Pakistani posts located at higher altitudes from where Indian posts and civilian areas can be see, Pakistan has a distinct advantage. But the Indian Army used long range high caliber ammunition destroying Pakistani bunkers.
A couple was killed and their two children were injured when Pakistan violated the ceasefire along the Line of Control in Poonch on Saturday.
Soon after, India lodged protests with Pakistan over the incident after the Deputy Indian High Commissioner in Islamabad was summoned.
On Sunday, Deputy High Commissioner in Islamabad JP Singh was summoned for the second consecutive day. Islamabad alleged that Pakistani civilians were killed in firing by Indian troops.
India rebuffed Pakistan's allegations that it was Indian troops who violated the ceasefire on Saturday along the Line of Control and conveyed to Pakistan that there have been in 223 ceasefire violations by Pakistan in 2017. India told Islamabad that it was Pakistani troops that first started the firing along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir that killed two civilians this morning and that India "responded appropriately".
