Mumbai: The Indian Coast Guard has stepped up security along the west coast of the country following inputs from central security agencies that Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba terror group may carry out an attack in Delhi, "We have increased vigil and patrolling activity along the west coast," an official of the Coast Guard said today.
Security has been stepped up after the central agencies issued an alert about a terror attack being planned by Lashkar-e-Taiba founder and 26/11 mastermind Hafiz Saeed at the Red Fort and other key places in the national capital.
Though the Coast Guard official did not specify the number of vessels that would be deployed for security purpose, he said security along Gujarat and Goa coastline has been beefed up with the help of Navy.
Necessary security measures have been put in place also in view of next week's Independence Day celebrations, the official added.
Ten terrorists, including Ajmal Amir Kasab, who set sail from Karachi, had landed in Mumbai and orchestrated the 26/11 terror attack in November 2008 killing 166 people.
