Two Indian Coast Guard personnel who were being held hostage by Sri Lankan fishermen have been rescued.
The Coast Guard personnel were abducted on Thursday off Visakhapatnam after eight Sri Lankan fishing boats were apprehended by the Indian Coast Guard.
The Coast Guard personnel boarded the boats; one of the boat owners and his men overpowered the Coast Guard personnel and sailed away.
Indian Naval warships and Coast Guard ships had surrounded the rogue boat about 250 nautical miles off Visakhapatnam in international waters.
Details of the rescue are awaited.
