Chennai: An Indian fisherman was killed and another injured after the Sri Lankan Navy opened fire mid sea close to the Tamil Nadu coast.
The fishermen were from Pudukottai in Tamil Nadu.
The fisherman's body is kept at the government hospital in Pudukottai. Tamil Nadu government has announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh for his family.
It was not clear whether the incident took place in Indian waters or Lankan waters. The fishermen staged road blockade protesting the incident.
