Dubai: A 33-year-old Indian man in Dubai has been charged for allegedly strangling his wife to death due to a suspicion that she was cheating on him.
The incident happened on August 7 in Al Jafiliyah after the couple had a heated argument after she returned home from work.
The husband was drunk when he confronted the wife about her having an affair, Khaleej Times reported.
They got into an argument and he strangled her. With one hand he squeezed her neck and with the other he gagged her.
After killing his wife, he turned himself to the police.
The accused faces a murder charge linked with a charge of consuming alcohol in the Court of First Instance.
"He looked agitated and smelt of alcohol. He told us that he had a brawl with his wife over his suspicion that she was having an affair. He confessed that he strangled her after she verbally abused him," a police officer told the prosecution.
The police moved to the defendant's place in Al Jafiliyah and found the victim's body lying on a bed. Her suitcase was found packed near the closet.
The accused told the police officers that he and his wife had an argument.
