Indian Olympic Association pushing for Asiad 2019?

New Delhi: In a new revelation, NDTV has accessed a letter written by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) to the Sports Ministry in July 2010, urging it to bid for the 2019 Asian Games.

In the letter, the IOA has mentioned that it would be easy to host the Games as an indoor stadia is already in place for the Commonwealth Games.

It further mentions that the estimated Asiad revenue is pegged at $450 million with an estimated profit of around $49 million or Rs 250 crore.

The letter also talks about the building of a Games Village on the lines of the CWG village which would have a public-pvt partnership, just like the one between EMAAR and DDA.

It mentions that discussions on the issues have already taken place with the Chief Ministers of Delhi, Haryana and UP.

The proposed Asian Games Organising Committee is suggested to have a Chairman who would be nominated or appointed by the Government.

The last date for bidding for the 2019 Asian Games is November 12.
