Bangkok:
An Indian woman was killed in an accident during a trip to Thailand to celebrate her wedding anniversary while parasailing off the coast of a popular seaside town, police said.
Police Colonel Suwan Cheawnavinthavat says the accident took place yesterday when 36-year-old Shilpi Agarwal and her husband hired a speed boat to parasail near the beach of Pattaya in eastern Thailand.
She was killed by the speed boat's rotating blade when the boat backed up to retrieve her after she had fallen into the water.
Suwan said police planned to press charges for causing death by careless action.
The accident took place shortly after the Thai prime minister encouraged government agencies to help ensure safety of tourists using jet skis, speed boats and taxis.
