Melbourne : Police have launched a probe into the death of a 32-year-old Indian woman who died in Australia after suffering serious burn injuries.
Parwinder Kaur died on Tuesday after she suffered 85 per cent burns on her body.
According to Sydney Morning Herald, the detectives were now probing how she was doused in petrol and caught fire.
Her body was engulfed in flames from head to toe and she collapsed in her driveway.
The report said that her neighbours saw Kaur who ran screaming and on fire from her Rouse Hill home on Monday.
Police said her 34-year-old husband Kulwinder Singh tried to put out the fire with his own hands.
Kaur had apparently dialled an emergency number for help. "She ran screaming from the house," one neighbour said.
Another witness said she was burnt from the neck down. "There was nothing left of her clothes. [Her husband] was screaming and she had a blanket over her, still smouldering."
Detective Superintendent Rob Critchlow said Singh had been interviewed but there were conflicting versions of events.
"It's a really horrendous, horrific death and very traumatic for the neighbours that assisted," Critchlow said.
Police said that Kaur had reported a domestic argument earlier this year and the issue was resolved peacefully.
