The all-India mean temperature has risen by around 0.6 degrees Celsius in the last 110 years, in line with the rising global temperatures, the Lok Sabha was informed on Wednesday.
In a written reply, Minister for Earth Sciences Harsh Vardhan, said the latest Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report highlights that mean surface temperature of the globe has risen by 0.18 degrees Celsius.
"All-India mean temperature has risen nearly around 0.6 degrees over the last 110 years in line with the rising temperature across the globe. Every year, India experiences severe heat waves in summer, but in 2015, casualties were abnormally high," Harsh Vardhan said.
The minister said the 2001-2010 decade was the warmest for the country as well as globally.
