They call him Vibha's baby, and the 11-day-old has everyone at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) rooting for him.
He's the longest survivor of a rare condition, thoracic ectopia cordis, which means his heart protruding out from the chest.
The six doctors at AIIMS who operated on him on Thursday describe the surgery as successful. The tiny baby is conscious, but experts warn that it's too early to declare him out of danger.
"The baby is conscious and is responding well to surgery but since it is such a complex operation it is too early to say anything," said Dr YK Gupta, AIIMS.
His father, Chander Majhi, a daily wage earner from Muzaffarpur, brought the baby to Delhi in nothing more than a muslin cloth. His voice quivering with emotion, he says, "I want to thank the doctors, they worked so hard to save my baby."
Vibha, his wife, who is at home in their village, knows only that her newborn is in Delhi for check-ups.
Her miracle baby is precious not just to Vibha, but to medical science.
It's not just the family, each minute the baby survives is a bonus for medical science and everyone has their fingers crossed.
