Patna: The Indo-Nepal border along Bihar's naxal-infested Lok Sabha constituencies have been sealed and shoot-at-sight orders remain in force as the stage is set to hold the second phase of polling for 13 out of 40 Lok Sabha seats on Thursday.
"We have sealed the Indo-Nepal border along the naxal-hit constituencies of Valamikinagar, east Champaran, west Champaran, Sitamarhi and Madhubani. A hawk-eyed watch
will be kept there to prevent entry of anti-socials and maoists into the constituencies to disturb the poll process,"
Additional Director General (headquarters) Neelmani said.
The seats going to the poll tomorrow are Valmikinagar, west Champaran, east Champaran, Madhubani, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Vaishali, Hajipur, Jhanjharpur, Sheohar, Sitamarhi, Samastipur and Ujiarpur.
Shoot-at-sight orders would remain in force in case attempts by the security men failed to control those involved in vitiating the poll process, Neelmani said.
The Centre has provided 30 more additional companies of central para-military Forces (CPMFs) in addition to 139 companies of the CRPF, BSF and SSB available in the state for ensuring trouble-free polls, he said.
Each company comprises 100 security men, Neelmani said adding, the state's police personnel and Bihar Military Police (BMP) men will also be engaged to guard the booths.
