Indo,Pak joint statement on secretary-level talks
Pakistan Foreign Secretary Jalil Abbas Jilani:- My talks with Ranjan Mathai have been substantive, cordial
- Reviewed cross Line of Control (LoC) Confidence Building Measures (CBMs); agreed to convene meeting of joint working group on cross LoC CBMs
- Pakistan seeks friendly, cooperative relations with India
- We must apply political will to resolve all outstanding issues
- I have come here with a clear mandate from Pakistan leadership to promote relationship
On 26/11 handler Abu Jundal:
- Terrorism is a serious issue, we must take sincere steps to see how to resolve the issue of terrorism
- I assured Mr Mathai that entire evidence India has must be shared with us and we'll investigate the matter
- Willing to offer joint investigation in the whole matter
Foreign secretary Ranjan Mathai:- Had a frank and constructive discussion
- We may not agree on all issues but do agree that relations need to be normalised
- We have an open mind and constructive spirit
- Both countries recognise that terrorism poses threat
- Comprehensive exchange of views on Jammu and Kashmir
- Both sides underlined importance of people-to-people contact
- Look forward to make progress on trade track
- We reiterated firm and undiluted commitment of both countries to bring those responsible (for 26/11) to justice
- Will pursue Jundal matter with determination
