The long arms of teen molestor SPS Rathore seem to have reached everywhere in the days following the molestation of 14-year-old Ruchika Girhotra in 1990.
Former CBI Joint Director R M Singh, who had filed the CBI chargesheet in the Ruchika case, says he had included an abetment to suicide charge in his report.
But, he says, when Rathore came to know about it, he began threatening him and eventually Singh was removed from the case.
Ruchika's family and friends have been fighting to have the charge of abetment to suicide added to that of molestation against Rathore, a former Haryana police DGP.
Subhash Chander Girhotra, Ruchika's father said on Sunday that he would now file an abetment to suicide case against Rathore. "We will be filing case under Sec 306 which is abetment to suicide." he said.
It was a blow to Ruchika's family and friends that Rathore was sentenced last week to only six months for molesting Ruchika 19 years ago. Ruchika committed suicide three years later after extreme harassment.
Girhotra said Rathore used his influence to have Ruchika expelled from school. "Rathore's daughter was in the same class; don't know which section. She was embarrassed. Rathore used his influence and the Principal called me," he said.
