New Delhi: With NR Narayana Murthy all set to retire in 2011 and co-founder Nandan Nilekani having taken up a new role, Infosys - India's second largest IT firm - is set to undergo a major leadership transition.
For the first time ever Mr Murthy shares his views on Infosys' succession planning. He told NDTV that while there is plenty of in-house talent, he is not ruling out bringing an outsider.
"I would not like to rule out bringing talent from outside. Will first assess talent from within and reward loyal people," Murthy told NDTV.
And though the children of the co-founders are unlikely to join, he doesn't rule it out either but will be considered purely on merit and competence.

Infosys Human Resources Head Mohandas Pai also shares details of Infosys' succession planning process with NDTV, he says the biggest challenge for Infosys is the transition from a founder-led to a non-founder led firm but insists the brand equity of Infosys is much larger than its founders.
"Infosys board has deliberated on succession plan and set a process in place. Infosys is not a family-led company and the next generation not interested in joining. The company has created a strong structure and is not dependent on one single person," said Mohandas Pai to NDTV.
