Ahead of PM Modi's Visit, A Look Inside Google Headquarters

There are many "googlers" of Indian origin and China across the campus, but India has taken the lead with top positions being held by them.

California: The sprawling campus of internet giant, Google, has over 40 buildings and 18,000 employees, and will play host to Prime Minister Narendra Modi this Sunday, where he will be hoping to seek more support for Digital India.

You know you're in ' Google world ' when you suddenly see colourful 'Google bicycles' being driven around by employees, many of whom cycle to and from work. The bikes stand out with their vibrant colours in front of what would otherwise look like regular office buildings.

Welcome to Googleplex, the headquarters of the Internet giant in Mountainview, California.

Many of the employees, also known as "googlers" come to work in the laid back style that has come to represent techies in California-shorts and flipflops.

Every campus building the NDTV team walked past had outdoor benches and cafes for the employees, with colour being a dominant theme everywhere. You can see googlers walking around with ice cream cones and coffee cups on a campus that resembles a university.

Special Google shuttles are also visible, for staff members who live in and around the Bay Area, and use these shuttles to get to work. These are wifi enabled and have the latest clean technology.

Inside the headquarters, employees sit at their workstations, some catching up on sleep, others on a game of table tennis! There is a recreation corner, complete with food and drink.

You see many googlers of Indian origin and China across the campus, but India has taken the lead with top positions being held by them.

There is Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google, but today we met Amit Singhal, senior Vice President of software and engineering, and Aparna Chennapragada, the head of Google Now.

The campus is a little world of its own, will also provide PM Modi the opportunity to see what kind of an environment a company needs to truly thrive.
