Interpol issues alert for 26/11 suspects

Islamabad:

Taking another small step forward, Interpol has issued a global alert for 13 suspects wanted in connection with the Mumbai attacks after a request from Islamabad.

The alert asks the 186 Interpol member countries to tell them about any leads on the suspects.

There are also reports that Pakistan's Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested one more person, Jamil Ahmed, on the basis of information provided by other suspects.

But again there are conflicting signals from Islamabad on its commitment to fight terror.

The Foreign Office Spokesman repeated the line that there is not enough evidence given by India against Jamaat-ud-Dawa chief Hafiz Saeed.

The spokesman Abdul Basit said:

"It needs to be underlined that the dossiers and information received from India regarding Saeed are not really enough to proceed legally as is being expected."

However Indian government sources say that more than enough evidence has been provided on Saeed in as many as five dossiers.
