New Delhi: The Interpol has issued a Red Corner Notice (RCN) against Jamaat-ud-Dawa chief Hafiz Saeed and other top Lashkar leaders. But does that mean Pakistan will have to arrest him immediately? Not quite, but India feels the action by Interpol vindicates its stand.
Pakistan is not obliged to arrest or extradite the Lashkar founder, but he can be arrested if he travels outside Pakistan since the notice is an international one. But a similar notice against Dawood Ibrahim has not yielded any thing in the past.
However, officials say it does strengthen the pressure on Islamabad and vindicates the evidence India has against Saeed.
"It's a vindication of our stand and we hope government of Pakistan will act," Krishna said.
The Red Corner Notice is against Saeed and other top LeT leaders Abu Hamza and Zaki ur Rahman Lakhvi.
There are 19 others against whom there are Blue Corner Notices, which means India only wants to question them.
Meanwhile, Pakistan's Interior Minister has said Islamabad wants a dossier from India on the Samjhauta blast, which he said was as important to them as Mumbai is to India.
"We had asked fro a dossier on Samjhouta express blast. India asks for dossier from us on daily basis, but when we ask for it you ignore it saying that it not related. Of course it is related. Pakistani were killed in that blast their blood was also red like that of our Indian brothers. So if we have to wage a fight against the terrorists, then there shouldn't be any discrimination. So the dossier on Samjhauta Express blast which we asked for is equally important as it is for them," Pakistan's Interior Minister Rehman Malik said.
For now, all eyes are on when the Indian and Pakistani Foreign Secretaries will meet next since the Foreign Ministers are supposed to meet in New York next month.
