Chennai:
The Tamil Nadu police would soon approach the Mumbai police asking to share information on what Chennai-based hotelier Vikram Aggarwal, who was arrested on Monday, had told them during interrogation.
A few days ago Tamil Nadu police arrested Mr Aggarwal on charges of betting on matches in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Senior police sources in Chennai told NDTV, "Vikram Aggarwal has given us some information; we have some information. Now we want to check with the Mumbai police on what he had told them. We are going in a systematic way".
The sources added, "We want to specifically check what Vikram had told the Mumbai police about his relationship with Mr Gurunath Meyappan".
Mr Meiyappan, a key member of the Chennai Super Kings team and the son in law of BCCI Chief Mr Srinivasan, is also facing allegations of betting and is out on bail.
After arresting Mr Aggarwal last week the police had claimed that the hotelier was in close touch with Kitty, a bookie who operated from a room in his hotel. They also alleged that Mr Aggarwal had "thorough information on pitch conditions and many other details during IPL matches. He had also made hundreds of calls to mobile phones with questionable ownership".
Although Tamil Nadu police had summoned Mr Aggarwal first, he chose to appear before the Mumbai Crime Branch Police, who after interrogation decided to not arrest him.
