IPL semis: Maharashtra top cop promises security
Mumbai: Maharashtra Police have said they are ready to host the semi-final matches of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in Navi Mumbai.

Describing the security arrangement ahead of the matches, Maharashtra DGP, A N Roy, said on Monday: "Though the state has been given the responsibility to host additional IPL matches at a short notice, the state police are ready with a foolproof three-tier security".

"The DY Patil Ground will be sealed off from Tuesday afternoon. No bags, eatables or cell phones will be allowed in the stadium. The bomb squad will monitor area around the grounds," Roy said.

After Shashi Tharoor's resignation, a fresh Indian Premier League (IPL) row has started brewing between Bangalore and the cricket league. The problem started when the IPL governing council decided to shift the semi-finals to Navi Mumbai after two explosions took place near the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. More bombs were found the next day of the blasts.

The Bangalore police are not happy with the decision, saying that they are still promising security.

Karnataka Chief Mister BS Yeddyurappa has said the decision should be reversed but IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi maintained they had no choice but to move out the matches.
