New Delhi:
The stage seems to be set for a fight over who will take over from Lalit Modi.
(Read: Modi prepares defense, says won't resign)While BCCI chief Shashank Manohar is Sharad Pawar's choice, some of the IPL team-owners apparently think otherwise.
(Read: Team-owners back Modi)NDTV has learnt that they don't believe Manohar can run the IPL like Lalit Modi. So they have their own plan in place.
(Forum: Can IPL survive sans Modi's vision?)If Modi does go, they will propose to the IPL Governing Council that:
- IPL franchises will nominate one of their own to be appointed as IPL Commissioner on a rotation basis for a period of two years
- The Vice Chairman of IPL would be a person nominated by the BCCI
- The Governing council should be controlled by the BCCI with Modi as a member
