Pune:
An MMS clip now being circulated among his friends in Pune shows a smiling Iranian student waving. 24 hours after that clip was recorded on a phone camera, Saied Khani was dead.
He was at Pune's German Bakery on Saturday night when a bomb exploded. Saied was among the 11 victims.
Saied left his country to escape a volatile political landscape, and to learn English. He enrolled in a six-month course at Symboisis College.
The campus that became his second home became the venue for a special prayer service in his memory, organized by his friends
Among them, Amin, who grew up with Saied in their hometown of Ahwaz. "He was a cute guy, very clever. He got 87 %. I can't focus on my studies. He was a really good man," says Amin.
Over tea and dried dates, another friend, Yaser, shares "Just the night before, we were at a mall enjoying ourselves. He was joking and laughing. I can't believe he is no more."
Recently, Saied had told his friends he was missing his family and that he wanted to go home.
